Abstract
A review of the recent advances in the theory of free dendritic growth is given. We present the basic ingredients for the currently accepted theory and summarize the main results for two and three dimensional g rowth. Some thousand references over the past five years have been ana lyzed and a selection of some two-hundred of them are classified by an index of keywords.
