Abstract
Based on the data for 48 states in 1991 and the weighted least squares method, arrests related to illegal drugs show a positive relation wit h the percentage of one parent families, the degree of urbanization, p er capita disposable income, other crimes, and the states which have a border or a coast or which permit gambling, and a negative relation w ith the police force, the educational level and the unemployment rate.
