Abstract
A study of the parametric optical excitation of overtones of rigid lay er modes in a MoS2 crystal is presented. This effect, resulting from t he modulation of the vibrational frequency by a biharmonic optical fie ld, is shown to lead to a significant intrinsic optical bistability, w hich can be registered in a four-wave mixing process.
