Several viewing techniques can be toed to compare CRT images to printe
d images under different illuminants and luminance levels. This resear
ch examined five such viewing techniques including memory, successive-
binocular, simultaneous-binocular, simultaneous-haploscopic, and succe
ssive-Ganzfeld-haploscopic viewing. The results showed that these tech
niques yielded different results when comparing printed originals to m
atching CRT reproductions, derived using various color-appearance mode
ls. Memory viewing was determined to be the most appropriate viewing t
echnique for further study of cross-media color reproduction. (C) 1996
