Abstract
This paper presents FRAES, an expert system environment designed to in tegrate the multiple sources of knowledge required to analyze the inte rnal structure of flexible pipes. Numerical algorithms, data bases and expert knowledge are explored by the inference mechanism of the syste m to assist the technical personnel of petroleum companies in the anal ysis, design and diagnosis of flexible pipes to be used as flowlines o r risers in offshore applications.
