Rh. Bailey et Jh. Bauer, A REVIEW OF COMMON ERRORS IN THE INDIRECT MEASUREMENT OF BLOOD-PRESSURE - SPHYGMOMANOMETRY, Archives of internal medicine, 153(24), 1993, pp. 2741-2748
There are three sources of error in the indirect measurement of blood
pressure: (1) observer bias, (2) faulty equipment, and (3) failure to
standardize the techniques of measurement. This article examines each
area extensively, discusses the cumulative effect of these errors on t
he accuracy of indirect blood pressure measurement, and reviews the re
commendations for proper indirect measurement of blood pressure.
