Abstract
The qualitative model of the vertical thermohaline structure evolution in the subsurface layer of the fractures is introduced. The thermohal ine structure evolution is caused by the gravitational convection unde r the ice surface. Important technical details of the observational se t up in the winter fracture are described. On the basis of these exper iments the direct estimations were carried out of an external salt (ma ss) fluxes at the ice-water interface, of the salt fluxes in the under -ice layer Fs, of the vertical velocity W* in this layer and of their vertical variability.
