Abstract
The kinetics of CaCO3 precipitation at 20 degrees C and 30 degrees C a nd supersaturation which achieved during photosynthesis in seawater wa s experimentally studied. The induction period time does not depend on pH and is determined by supersaturation value. The dissolved phosphat es do not inhibit precipitation during photosynthesis at pH 8.5. The e xperimental data turned out to be fit well to the predicted values of induction period in the range of pH, realized in nature. The possibili ty of spontaneous precipitation of CaCO3 at Bahama Bank conditions has been shown. An experimental model of homogeneous precipitation of CaC O3 during photosynthesis was first proposed.
