I. Graham, A PRESENTATION OF A CONCEPTUAL-FRAMEWORK AND ITS USE IN THE DEFINITION OF NURSING DEVELOPMENT WITHIN A NUMBER OF NURSING DEVELOPMENT UNITS, Journal of advanced nursing, 23(2), 1996, pp. 260-266
This paper provides a conceptual framework upon which action plans can
be built to enable registered nurses to reflect upon their work and p
ractice activities. This conceptual framework has been used by the aut
hor in his work with various nursing development units within Yorkshir
e, England, in his role as their academic nurse advisor. The framework
has been useful in helping nurses not only to reflect upon current wo
rk and practice activities but also as a guideline for future developm
ent. The paper provides examples of such nursing development activitie
s and includes a personal view of how nursing development units can ac
t as catalysts for change.
