B. Wilson et Z. Ghassemlooy, PULSE TIME MODULATION TECHNIQUES FOR OPTICAL COMMUNICATIONS - A REVIEW, IEE proceedings. Part J, Optoelectronics, 140(6), 1993, pp. 346-357
The principal factor in realising a high-performance bandwidth-efficie
nt fibre communication system at an acceptable cost is the choice of m
odulation format on the optical carrier. In this context, pulse time m
odulation (PTM) techniques represent an attractive alternative to pure
ly digital or analogue methods. The PTM family is reviewed, a classifi
cation system is proposed and their potential for use in high-speed fi
bre systems intended for the transmission of analogue data is examined
