This paper describes a low cost learning environment for control and a
rtificial intelligence techniques. It is shown how public domain and s
hareware software can be combined with university products to provide
a learning basis of considerable power and versatility. The control pa
rt contains programs for matrix calculations and simulations as well a
s training programs for specific tasks. The artificial intelligence pa
rt contains Prolog, Lisp (XLisp), several small expert system shells a
nd simulators for discrete events systems.
