Cell suspension culture of poppy was permeabilized by Tween 80 and imm
obilized by glutaraldehyde. beta-Galactosidase showed optimum pH 4.8 a
nd temperature of 50 degrees C. The enzyme hydrolysis was linear durin
g 3 h reaching 68% conversion. The cells characterized by high beta-ga
lactosidase activity and stability in long-term storage showed conveni
ent physico-mechanical properties.
