MULTILAYERED MAGNETIC-MATERIALS

The deposition of thin films is long established, but the recent devel opment of highly sophisticated techniques has made it possible to buil d up layered films, at the nanometre level, to very strict specificati ons. In such layers materials exhibit properties quite different from those displayed in bulk. Apart from their theoretical significance, su ch layered devices have very interesting practical possibilities, for example in magneto-optical recording and magnetic sensing devices.
