Yv. Smirnov et al., PROTON SELF-DIFFUSION IN MEMBRANES OF ERY THROCYTES AND GASTRIC MUCOUS CELLS IN SPONTANEOUSLY HYPERTENSIVE RATS, Kardiologia, 35(10), 1995, pp. 34-37
Proton pulsed nuclear magnetic resonance with pulsed magnetic field gr
adient was used for the study of samples of gastric mucosa and erythro
cytes obtained from spontaneously hypertensive (SHR) and normotensive
rats of WKY line. The diffusion decay shape under the effect of magnet
ic field gradient was different in hypertensive and normotensive rats
both in gastric mucosa and in erythrocytes: the signal population of s
low protons in hypertensive rats was lower than in normotensive animal
s. Decrease in population of slow protons in tissues from spontaneousl
y hypertensive rats confirmed the presence of ''defect'' of cellular m
embranes in experimental primary arterial hypertension and could be ex
plained by H+ leakage from cells when activation of Na+/H+ exchange ha
d taken place.
