Abstract
The crystal is built up of nearly octahedral Ir(NH3)5-Cl2+ cations and planar PtCl42- anions, each of m symmetry. The coordination of these ions is 6/6. They are stabilized by electrostatic interactions and the re are hydrogen bonds (N-H...Cl) which take part in the packing of the structure to form a three-dimensional network.
