Abstract
The structures of s(mu-2-methyl-phe-nylpropanoato-O:O')dicopper(II), [ Cu(C10H11O2)2(H2O)]2 (I), s(mu-2-methyl-2-phenylpropanoato-O:O')dicopp er(II) benzene solvate, [Cu(C10H11O2)2(C7H9N)]2-C6H6 (II) and thylpyri dine)bis(triphenylacetato-O,O')copper(II), [Cu(C20H15O2)2(C7H9N)2] (II I), have been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. (I) and (II) are dinuclear Cu(II) complexes having cage structures and the coo rdination geometries around the Cu atoms are square pyramidal in (I) a nd distorted trigonal bipyramidal in (II). The Cu...Cu distances are 2 .589 (1) and 2.907 (1) angstrom for (I) and (II), respectively. The co ordination geometry in the monomeric copper complex (III) is square pl anar. The -2J values of (I) and (II) are 348 and 310 cm-1 respectively .
