Abstract
A 44-year-old woman complaining of thoracic back pain was found to hav e a large mediastinal leiomyosarcoma. This was completely excised. No adjuvant treatment was given. Follow-up after 24 months showed no evid ence of disease. For these rare tumours surgery offers the best treatm ent, although local recurrence and metastases do occur.
