The ion interaction approach developed by Fitter wets used for the pre
diction of volumetric properties of mixed electrolyte solutions at 25
degrees C based on parameters calculated from experimental data for si
ngle-solute electrolyte solutions. Such an approach war shown to be es
pecially effective for application to the calculation of volumetric pr
operties of natural hypersaline brines and of industrial electrolyte s
olutions of large complexity. The use of the latest recommended sets o
f volumetric ion interaction parameters for single electrolyte solutio
ns and symmetrical mixing parameters for Na-K-Cl ion combinations cons
iderably improved the precision of the density calculations of highly
concentrated mired electrolyte solutions and of various natural waters
.
