Abstract
Gc phenotyping by immunoblotting is used in the State of Victoria as a rapid screening technique for blood and occasionally, semen evidence. Where no exclusion is obtained samples are further typed with the PCR -based DNA systems HLA-DQA1, D1S80 and HUMTH01. Victorian databases ha ve been generated for these loci. All loci meet Hardy-Weinberg expecta tions and there is no detectable association between the four loci. Th e multiplication rule can, therefore, be applied to obtain an appropri ate weighting of inclusionary evidence for use in criminal investigati ons and court proceedings.
