Four different organic reactions, where specific activation by microwa ves has been suggested, have been investigated In each case, the claim that microwave radiation activates organic molecules and leads to inc reased reaction rates has been shown to be unfounded All the increased rates of reaction in the microwave oven reactions can be attributed t o the increased reaction temperature.
