This article describes new trends, techniques, and instrumentation in
aesthetic surgery. Advances in our understanding of anatomy and the ch
anges that come about with intrinsic and extrinsic factors are discuss
ed. Specifically, anatomic approaches to rhytidectomy, the preservatio
n of lid shape in blepharoplasty, and CO2 facial resurfacing are highl
ighted. Body contouring surgical techniques, including minimal scar br
east reductions, endoscopic-assisted augmentation mammoplasty, and sup
erficial liposuction, are reviewed.
