Prior numerical solutions of electrohydrodynamic flows in a positive-c
orona, wire-plate electrostatic precipitator are extended to reveal st
eady-periodic electrohydrodynamic flows. Previously, only steady solut
ions were reported. The present study includes results for flows with
Reynolds numbers from 0 to 4800 and with dimensionless electric number
ranging from 0.06 to infinity. Results indicate that two regimes of l
ow frequency oscillatory pow occur. The first regime is characterized
by a single recirculating vortex that oscillates in strength between o
ne and five Hertz. The second regime is characterized by two counter-r
otating vortices that oscillate in strength at a frequency near one He
rtz.
