S. Langenbuch et al., ITINERANT AND LOCAL-MOMENT ANTIFERROMAGNETISM IN V2-YO3 - A NMR-STUDY, Physical review. B, Condensed matter, 53(2), 1996, pp. 472-475
V NMR spectra were measured in insulating and itinerant, antiferromagn
etic V2-yO3 (y less than or equal to 0.052) up to the Neel temperature
T-N. The remaining V ion of a broken V pair in the V2O3 structure giv
es rise to a resolved satellite line. The hyperfine coupling constants
at the majority site and at the satellite, as well as the electric-fi
eld gradient at the majority sites are nearly the same in the metallic
and insulating state. The magnetic states are, therefore, similar in
the itinerant and insulating case. The ordering temperature T-N of hig
hly doped antiferromagnetic samples is much larger than inferred from
susceptibility data. The temperature dependence of the sublattice magn
etization is small and equal for insulating and highly doped metallic
samples. Below T-N the electric-field gradient of both sites is temper
ature independent.
