I. Rustan et al., ADJUSTMENT OF FLAVONOID ANALYSIS BY TLC U SING EXPERIMENTAL RESEARCH METHODOLOGY - STUDIES OF 2 LAMIACEA PLANTS, Analusis, 23(8), 1995, pp. 398-402
We develop the thin layer chromatography analysis of flavonoids extrac
ted from two mediterranean plants. After selection of adsorbent with r
egard to migration and spray reagent, we determined the best elution b
lend by testing 11 samples cited in the literature. This solvent allow
s a good chromatographic separation of flavonoids (aglycone+glucide).
The aglycone identification, derived from acid hydrolysis of flavonoid
s, is the first step in heterosid flavonoid studies. The variability o
f aglycone polarities leads to difficult TLC separation. So we used th
e experimental research methodology for optimising the solvent blend.
The stimultaneous migration of standard is useful for the identificati
on of two aglycones.
