Mitomycin C (MC) is an antibiotic used in the treatment of numerous ty
pes of cancer. It is widely accepted that this agent must be reduced i
n a one-electron way to undergo covalent bondings to DNA, RNA and vari
ous proteins. Drug attachment investigations have been studied and cyt
otoxic activity has been associated with the formation of the interstr
and linked adducts. We report here radiolysis methods to understand wi
th transient is responsible for the DNA cross-link adducts. These inve
stigations provided three adducts with DNA and the alkylating intermed
iate was characterized by its absorption spectrum and its formation ki
netic of adducts.
