The paper presents the results got in trying to purify the crystalized
lead acetate by zone melting. The working enclosure consisted of a 50
cm useful length Teflon tube. The optimum rate of movement was establ
ished at 10-12 mm/h, while the melted zone length was 12-15 mm and the
cycles were 9-12 in number. The impurities analytical control was per
formed spectrographically and spectrometrically. Following the experim
ents made, it was concluded that after 9-12 cycles of passing the melt
ed zone along the sample, the concentration of metallic ion impurities
decreased below 10(-5) %. It is specified that we started from the an
alysis grade lead acetate, having a metallic ions impurities concentra
tion of 10(-2)-10(-3) %.
