Abstract
Contagious pustular dermatitis (CPD) a pox virus disease of young shee p and goats has been reported from many parts of the country (Sharma a nd Bhatia, 1958; Kumar et al., 1974; Sharma, 1977). The morbidity rate is reported to be very high approaching 100% but case fatality rate r arely exceeds 1.0% (Subba Rao, 1984). The losses are mainly due to les ions on lips and mouth which interfere with feeding thus affecting the growth rate. The following is a report on the occurrence of CPD virus in goats in Madhya Pradesh.
