Iv. Karandi et Mm. Buzlanova, USE OF FORMALDEHYDE IN THE POTENTIOMETRIC DETERMINATION OF ORGANIC CARBONYL-COMPOUNDS, Journal of analytical chemistry, 50(12), 1995, pp. 1202-1203
The possibility of using formaldehyde as an analytical reagent in orga
nic functional analysis is studied. It is shown that an alcoholic solu
tion of formaldehyde obtained by the decomposition of paraform is stab
le for a long time and can be used for analytical purposes. A new vari
ant of the determination of organic carbonyl compounds by oximation is
suggested. It is based on the potentiometric titration of the unreact
ed hydroxylamine with a solution of formaldehyde in isopropanol using
a Pt indicator electrode.
