The problem of determining the optimal isolation thickness is wellknow
n for plane surfaces and cylinders. Conditions how to use such results
for the design of columns are not known. In the paper the exakt model
ling of the optimal isolation thicknes of columns is discussed on the
basis of new data for different economical properties. Furthermore the
approaching by a cylinder model is investigated. As result it is show
n that the influence of the isolation costs on the optimal degree of s
lim of columns is important.
