Abstract
The intracellular localization of anthocyanoplasts (anthocyanin-contai ning vesicles) has been studied in grapevine (Vitis vinifera cv. Gamay ) by light microscope examination of protoplasts and vacuoles obtained from suspension cell cultures. In protoplasts, anthocyanin-containing vesicles of approx. 1-10 mum diameter can be observed in the cytoplas m and are absent in vacuoles isolated by means of a polybase or phosph ate buffer lysis procedure. It is concluded that anthocyanoplasts are located in the cytoplasm of suspension cultured grapevine cells.
