The kinetic regularities of the oxyethylation of primary alcohols (but
anol, hexanol, and decanol) were studied in the presence of a complex
catalyst based on boron trifluoride etherate and aluminum and titanium
alkoxides. The reaction orders with respect to reagents and a catalys
t and the activation parameters of the reaction were determined. It wa
s found that a complex of the catalyst with alcohol was an active cata
lytic species involved in this reaction. The kinetic equation of the r
eaction was suggested.
