The cluster [(mu-H)(2)Fe-3(mu(3)-Se)(CO)(9)] has been found to react w
ith [CpW(CO)(3)](2) [Cp = (eta(5)-C5H5)] when refluxed in m-xylene. Tw
o major products of this reaction have been isolated, one of which is
the heteronuclear cluster [(mu-H)Fe2W(mu(3)-Se)(CO)(8)Cp]. Its structu
re has been determined by X-ray analysis. The other product is probabl
y [FeW2(mu(3)-Se)(CO)(7)Cp(2)]. Its composition and structure have bee
n proposed from the IR, H-1 and Se-77 NMR spectra and the C,H elementa
l analysis data.
