Abstract
Monooxides of 2,2'-bis(alkylthio)biphenyl undergo facile monodealkylat ion on treatment with triflic anhydride to afford the corresponding th iasulfonium salts except bis(methylthio) derivative. The reaction proc eeds via an initial formation of the corresponding dithiadications.
