Abstract
The mechanism of formation of pyridines from alpha,beta-unsaturated ni triles and active cyano compounds has been investigated. These process es proceed through a Michael adduct which undergoes a regioselective c yclization to the corresponding heterocyclic compound. The regioselect ivity of the heterocyclization processes is justified.
