B. Janczuk et al., WETTABILITY OF FLUORITE IN THE PRESENCE OF AN ANIONIC AND A NONIONIC SURFACTANT, Canadian metallurgical quarterly, 35(1), 1996, pp. 17-21
Measurements were made of the contact angle for water, glycerol, forma
mide, diiodomethane and bromoform on the surface of fluorite covered w
ith a mixed him of SDS and TX-100, and from the results obtained the L
ifshitz-van der Waals and the acid-base components of the surface free
energy of fluorite coated with the mixed film were determined. The el
ectron-acceptor and the electron-donor parts of the acid-base componen
t were also evaluated. On the basis of the measurements and calculatio
ns, it was concluded that the presence of the mixed film of SDS and TX
-100 on the fluorite surface strongly modified its wettability and the
surface free energy components. The changes in surface free energy co
mponents were in good agreement with adsorption data for mixtures of S
DS and TX-100 on fluorite.
