Thirty myopic eyes underwent anterior radial keratotomy by the America
n, Russian, or Combined surgical technique. The American technique gav
e the least correction, lowest micro-perforation rate, and least overc
orrection. The Russian and the Combined techniques yielded more eyes t
hat achieved 20/20 and 20/40 uncorrected vision. The Combined techniqu
e gave the most refractive effect, least undercorrection, and least in
duced astigmatism. This article describes the details of the three sur
gical techniques.
