A detailed description of jet and droplets formation in the ''precessi
on'' mode of electrohydrodynamic spraying is given. Experiments show t
hat the jet rotates around the capillary axis during the spraying proc
ess, and uniformly disperses droplets in a spraying cone. This mode of
spraying differs from the well-known cone-jet mode in jet formation m
echanism and droplet sizes. The operating range of the precession mode
in terms of flow rates and voltages was determined for distilled wate
r, ethanol and ethylene glycol.
