An alternative method based on linear systems analysis is presented fo
r the analysis of concentration-time data for the enantiomers of the 2
-arylpropionic acids. This approach uses deconvolution to estimate the
rate and extent of chiral inversion with respect to time, assuming li
near pharmacokinetics and time invariance, without the need for compli
cated modelling procedures. Application to data for the chiral inversi
on of ibuprofen in the rat indicates that this approach provides a val
id alternative to previous procedures for the analysis of chiral inver
