Abstract
A new abietane diterpenoid has been isolated from the aerial parts of Plectranthus hereroensis, together with two known diterpenes. The stru cture of the new substance, 3 beta-acetoxy-6 beta,7 alpha,12-trihydrox y-17(15 --> 16);18(4 --> bisabeo-abieta-4(19),8,12,16-tetraene-11,14-d ione, was established by spectroscopic means and by comparison with cl osely related compounds. This diterpene showed moderate antibacterial activity.
