R. Rudert et al., CRYSTAL AND MOLECULAR-STRUCTURE OF SODIUM DODECYL(OXYETHYLENE)SULFATEHYDRATE, Zeitschrift fur Kristallographie, 211(1), 1996, pp. 43-45
The crystal and molecular structure of sodium dodecyl(oxyethylene)sulf
ate hydrate (C12H25(OC2H4) OSO3(-). Na+. 3/8H(2)O) has been determined
by direct methods. The title compound crystallizes in the triclinic s
pace group P (1) over bar with a = 9.348(8) Angstrom, b = 11.260(8) An
gstrom, c = 38.14(2) Angstrom, alpha = 85.35(5)degrees, beta = 86.38(6
)degrees, gamma = 70.76(8)degrees, V = 3775(5) Angstrom(3), Z = 8, D-x
= 1.194 Mgm(-3). There are four oxyethylene sulfate anions, four sodi
um cations and 1.5 H2O molecules in the asymmetric unit. They form bil
ayers with tail to tail arrangement. The chains of the molecules are m
ore or less disordered.
