Abstract
Co-condensation of cobalt atoms with an excess of (E,E)-1,4-bis(trimet hylsilyl)buta-1,3-diene in hexane at -196 degrees C yields the homolep tic bis(butadiene) complex [Co{eta-C4H4(SiMe(3))(2)}(2)] (1) as the so le volatile product. Compound 1 was characterized by H-1 NMR and EPR s pectroscopy, mass spectrometry and a single-crystal X-ray structure de termination.
