C. Grosse et Vn. Shilov, THEORY OF THE LOW-FREQUENCY ELECTROROTATION OF POLYSTYRENE PARTICLES IN ELECTROLYTE SOLUTION, Journal of physical chemistry, 100(5), 1996, pp. 1771-1778
An interpretation is given for the cofield rotation observed in low-fr
equency electrorotation experiments using polystyrene particles in ele
ctrolyte solution. It is shown that the main cause of the particle rot
ation is the electroosmotic velocity of the electrolyte inside the thi
n double layer, rather than the torque exerted by the rotating electri
c field on the out of phase part of the induced dipole moment.
