Y. Saito et K. Nishikubo, RADIAL SINGLE-WALL CARBON TUBES GROWING ON SURFACES OF PD PARTICLES, Journal of physics and chemistry of solids, 57(2), 1996, pp. 243-246
Palladium (Pd) particles protruding single-wall (SW) carbon tubes were
produced by are evaporation of Pd-graphite composites in helium gas.
Transmission electron microscopy revealed radial and dense SW tubes gr
owing from a Pd particle in the metallic fee phase. The length and the
diameter of SW tubes were typically 40 nm and 1.5 nm, respectively. A
naked Pd particle with a tail of filamentous carbon, showing 'tadpole
' type morphology, was also described.
