Eh. Harrell et al., PERFORMANCE OF SUBJECTS WITH LEFT VISUAL NEGLECT AFTER REMOVAL OF THERIGHT VISUAL-FIELD USING HEMIFIELD GOGGLES, The Journal of rehabilitation, 61(4), 1995, pp. 46-49
Subjects with right cerebral hemisphere damage and left visual neglect
completed five neuropsychological tests of neglect with and without h
emifield goggles that occluded their right visual field, Results indic
ated that when the non-neglected field is occluded, subjects are able
to perform with visual input directed to the ''neglected field.'' Resu
lts appear to support the attentional theory of neglect and suggest an
inhibition by the intact left hemisphere on right hemisphere perceptu
al processing of input, The significant potential of this method for r
ehabilitation of recovery from neglect in right hemisphere stroke pati
ents is discussed.
