Sm. Rivitz et al., EMBOLIZATION OF AN HEPATIC-ARTERY PSEUDOANEURYSM FOLLOWING LAPAROSCOPIC CHOLECYSTECTOMY, Cardiovascular and interventional radiology, 19(1), 1996, pp. 43-46
Vascular injuries during laparoscopic cholecystectomy can occur in an
analogous fashion to biliary injuries, with potential laceration, tran
section, and occlusion of blood vessels, A patient presented with symp
tomatic hemobilia 1 month following laparoscopic cholecystectomy and w
as found to have a right hepatic artery pseudoaneurysm which communica
ted with the common bile duct, This was successfully embolized with se
veral embolic agents, resulting in rapid resolution of all signs and s
ymptoms. The patient has been free of symptoms during a follow-up peri
od of 1 year. A brief discussion of hepatic artery pseudoaneurysms is
presented.
