Abstract
A correlation is demonstrated between the low-cycle fatigue properties and the scuff resisting properties of 4340 steel. Low cycle fatigue p roperties were estimated from measured tensile properties for specimen s with a wide range of hardness. Scuff resistance was measured in slid ing tests using white mineral oil as the lubricant.
