Rl. Bannister et al., DEVELOPMENT REQUIREMENTS FOR AN ADVANCED GAS-TURBINE SYSTEM, Journal of engineering for gas turbines and power, 117(4), 1995, pp. 724-733
In cooperation with U.S. Department of Energy's Morgantown Energy Tech
nology Center, a Westinghouse-led team is working on the second part o
f an 8-year, Advanced Turbine Systems Program to develop the technolog
y required to provide a significant increase in natural gas-fired comb
ined cycle power generation plant efficiency. This paper reports on th
e Westinghouse program to develop an innovative natural gas-fired adva
nced turbine cycle, which, in combination with increased firing temper
ature, use of advanced materials, increased component efficiencies, an
d reduced cooling air usage, has the potential of achieving a lower he
ating value plant efficiency in excess of 60 percent.
