Abstract
The radiation emitted by plasma impurities in the TSP high-field tokam ak is studied by means of spectroscopic diagnostics. The resulting dat a are used to explain the behavior of the plasma column at the stage o f discharge preceding the plasma compression. The experimental optical data are compared with the results of both the measurements and the n umerical simulation of the behavior of the plasma column.
