L. Sanhaji et al., A NEW TREATMENT OF THE OSTEOID OSTEOMA - THE PERCUTANEOUS SCLEROSIS WITH ETHANOL UNDER CT GUIDANCE, Journal de radiologie, 77(1), 1996, pp. 37-40
Osteoid osteoma is a benign bone tumor, easy to diagnost because of it
s typical presentation. However, it may be difficult in some cases : p
eculiar locations (spine, femoral neck...), or lack of visibility duri
ng surgery. Numerous removal technics under CT guidance have been prop
osed during the last few years. We will suggest another therapeutic wa
y to treat a case of osteoid osteoma, located in the upper extremity o
f the femur. The complete removal of the nidus was not possible despit
e two surgical attempts. So, its percutaneous sclerosis under CT guida
nce was accomplished, allowing the disappearence of the pain without p
atient immobilization afterwards. We will compare this easy and reliab
le method to those already described in the literature.
