In this paper we illustrate some of the capabilities of the Correlatio
n Tracker prototype developed at the Institute de Astrofisica de Canar
ias used for two-dimensional, high spatial resolution, solar spectrosc
opy. Slit spectra have been taken, using the Correlation Tracker as a;
stabilizer (minimizing image motion during exposures) and as an accura
te positioning device (allowing to precisely locate the entrance slit
of the spectrograph at adjacent positions on the solar disc). Spectral
information is obtained from several solar regions of different sizes
. Granules (including some exploding ones) and intergranules are clear
ly resolved. Several sub-arcsecond structures are undoubtedly distingu
ished as well. The two-dimensional variation of several spectral quant
ities in the solar atmosphere is shown, demonstrating the power of thi
s technique and its future possibilities.
